THE JET 2026 BREAKDOWN: Why Jharkhand’s biggest exam just became its biggest Fiasco

Ranchi : JPSC Under Fire as JET Exams for Two Subjects Cancelled Amid Massive Blunders
The long-awaited Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) 2024, conducted after a gap of nearly 18 years, was meant to be a milestone. Instead, it turned into a ordeal for nearly 1.5 lakh candidates across 430 centers on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Which was supposed to be a smooth academic evaluation became a scene of protests and confusion. From missing papers to unreadable fonts, the administrative failure was absolute. “The exam was harder than the National Eligibility Test (NET). We prepared for years, only to be met with this chaos.” An Agitated Candidate in Ranchi.

1. The Missing 32 question papers in BOKARO

At the Sardar Patel Public School center in Bokaro, the exam for the Education subject (Code 09) had to be scrapped.
• The Glitch: When the seal was broken, the center was 32 question papers short.
• The Reaction: Candidates, some of whom traveled from as far as Bihar and UP, staged a massive protest in the scorching heat.
• The Result: Bokaro DC and SP had to intervene. JPSC eventually cancelled the exam for this subject at this center.

2. The “Invisible” Paper: Ranchi’s Odia Fiasco

At the AS TVS District CM School of Excellence in Ranchi, the Odia subject (Code 023) exam met a similar fate.
• The Glitch: The question papers were printed so poorly they were completely unreadable. It looked more like a blurred ink-spill than an exam paper.
• The Result: JPSC cancelled the Odia exam at this center immediately.

3. The “Nagpuri” Fiasco

The Nagpuri language paper became a laughing stock for all the wrong reasons. Experts and students were shocked to find:
• Subject Hijacking: The paper reportedly included questions from Kuduk, Santali, Mundari, and Panchpargania instead of focusing on Nagpuri.
• The Typos: Words like “Chuad” were misspelled as “Chuhad”, and many other linguistic blunders were found throughout the booklet.

Minister and other’s slammed JPSC

“It is JPSC’s negligence. We will take a report on this and bring it to the government’s notice.” — Yogendra Prasad, Minister. Assistant Professor Dr. Virendra Kumar Mahto (Ranchi University) slammed the paper, stating it “questions the very credibility of the JPSC.” JLKM Leader Devendra Nath Mahto said, “This is the height of administrative failure. JPSC has shown zero seriousness towards the future of Jharkhand’s youth.”
